I did my internship in data digitisation and storage, whereas Rachel worked in events and Conrad in Human Resources. Although our workplaces and tasks were very different, all three of us gained useful professional experience.
My internship involved scanning documents and learning about cyber security. In contrast, Rachel spent most of her time meeting people and helping at events, while Conrad worked with CVs, candidate databases and job offers. Rachel's internship was probably more physically demanding than mine, as she was on her feet all day, whereas some of my scanning tasks were less tiring but more repetitive. Conrad also found some of his tasks repetitive, so we had this in common.
Our experiences with our supervisors were different too. My supervisor, Mike, was friendly, helpful and a good listener. Rachel's supervisor, Melanie, was also helpful, but she was less available than mine because she was very busy. Conrad, on the other hand, was very satisfied with Ms Martin, who was patient and professional and helped him become more confident.
Finally, the three internships were not equally relevant to our future plans. My internship will be useful because I want to work in cyber security. Rachel enjoyed her experience, although it is not directly linked to the career she wants in HR. Conrad, however, was able to confirm his choice to work in Human Resources. Overall, although the three experiences were quite different, they all helped us develop useful skills and understand the world of work better.
