First of all, let's learn about MIT with this presentation video.
Now let's hear from Brayden, a student is Cybersecurity at the MIT.
My name is Brayden Miller and I am a student in Cybersecurity at MIT. I'm so happy to be speaking to you guys in France today. I hope that everyone at the Lycée de la Cotière is having a good day.
So, let's talk about Cyber Security.
Cybersecurity is the protection of computers, networks, and data from attacks. It means building systems that are safe, and stopping hackers from stealing information. Today, almost everything is online: banking, shopping, health records, even schoolwork. This is why cybersecurity is so important — it keeps our digital life safe.
But, let's be honest : Cybersecurity has many challenges.
Hackers are getting smarter every year. Companies and governments must spend a lot of money to keep systems secure. We also need laws to protect privacy, but sometimes those laws are not the same in every country. Another problem is that people often use weak passwords or share personal data too easily, which makes attacks easier. If we do not work on these issues, society can lose trust in technology.
For me, cybersecurity is exciting but also stressful. I feel proud when I solve a problem or stop an attack in a simulation. But sometimes I feel worried about the future, because attacks are growing and can affect hospitals or power plants. I believe everyone should learn the basics of cybersecurity. It is not just a job for experts — it is something that protects all of us. And it is something we should all be thinking about and working on. Not just the experts.
Have a good day, guys. And say 'Hi' to Mister Kirrage.
Why do you think cybersecurity is important today?
Can you name examples of things in your daily life that depend on cybersecurity (banking, health records, etc.)?
Do you think schools should teach more about cybersecurity? Why or why not?
Do you think your online habits are safe (passwords, social media, sharing personal data)?
Have you ever changed a password because you thought it was too weak?
What could you personally do to make your online life safer?
Do you worry about hackers or cyberattacks? Why?
Which kind of attack do you think is the most dangerous (identity theft, attacking hospitals, power plants…)?
Do you think governments are doing enough to protect us?
Would you like to work in cybersecurity in the future? Why or why not?
What do you think would be exciting about working in this field?
Do you agree with Brayden that cybersecurity is “not just a job for experts”?
After watching the video, students at Lycée de la Cotière were asked to share their thoughts. Here is a summary of their responses:
Most students agreed that cybersecurity is an essential part of modern life.
They highlighted how banking, health records, and social media depend on strong security.
Several students said they had not realised how vulnerable daily activities can be without proper protection.
Many students reflected on their own habits online, recognising that they sometimes use weak passwords or overshare information.
They appreciated Brayden’s message that cybersecurity is “not just a job for experts,” and said it motivated them to be more careful.
Some students said they now feel more aware of the dangers of hacking and cyberattacks.
A few admitted feeling worried, particularly about attacks on hospitals, schools, or infrastructure.
Others expressed interest in learning how to protect their own devices and data.
Several students said Brayden’s enthusiasm inspired them to consider careers in cybersecurity.
They found his pride in solving problems motivating and encouraging.
